 Happy New Year, Skein Society!

It’s time for a new color of the year grumbling!! This year’s Pantone Color of the Year is Peach Fuzz, which is probably my most hated color of the year… ever? There’s something very insidious about a ~neutral~ color of the year in an election year, a ~neutral~ color that reads very ~beige~, very ~certain skin tone~!! I do not like it! Colors and fashion choices are very political and Pantone always seems to have something to say during Election and Midterm years - Classic Blue - 2020, Ultraviolet - 2018, Serenity/Rose Quartz - 2016, True Red - 2002, Sand Dollar - 2006, Blue Iris - 2008. If you go back and look, there’s an interesting trend of reds, blues, purples and sometimes apprehensive beige for midterms/election years. (You can argue about orange undertones if you want to, but no greens?? Yellows??) Are there lessons to be learned that coincide with these color choices? What could we learn from 2006’s Sand Dollar that could be applied for 2024’s Peach Fuzz? I’m just a dumbass with a yarn business and a tendency towards pattern recognition, so who knows

Anyway, we didn’t focus on Pantone’s color for our 2024 color of the year! We took inspiration from Etsy’s color of the year, Berry, and the Kona Cotton Solid color of the year, Mint Julep. So our color this month is I’m a Little Lad Who Loves Berries and Mint, because that’s all we could come up with.
