I decided to take a stab (haha…ha. Ow.) at needle felting today. In this modest attempt, I managed to only break one needle. It’s a coffee sleeve with the word ‘cunt’ on it. I think it came out moderately well, although I’m sure I’ll practice and get better.
I’m probably going to make a few for next year’s rendition of Vagina Monologues at USC (since the cross stitched ‘cunt’ was pretty popular).
Stabby, stabby, stab.

I yarn bombed a stop sign near my house.
People drove by and were giving me thumbs up.
Maybe Columbia will be cute at some point.

Last night, I participated in Runaway Runway here in Columbia with this outfit. It’s a fashion show where the outfits are made from post-consumer goods. The top, necklace, and hat are all made from plastic bag yarn (plarn) and crocheted. The bottom is made from Wal-Mart bags that have been cut up and melted together with heat.
We made Top Twenty (out of 59 contestants)!!
My model is super pretty and looked so great in the outfit. :)

So, yeah, I know everyone in the world has seen a Starbucks cup, but I bought this yarn that is ‘4% sequin’ according to the label and is like Bernard Mosaic in the slow color striping. I didn’t really know what to make with it, so I made a simple, pretty coffee sleeve. Purple is also my favorite color.
:D

I’ve not had time recently to crochet anything original, but wanted to branch outside of my usual schtick so here are some cute slippers. It’s been cold in my house (you know, since it’s February). I’m happy with how they came out. :)
I used Bamboo Ewe by Stitch Nation for the base and Angora Merino blend from the LB Collection by Lion Brand. They are so soft and make my feet feel fancy.
Pattern can be found here!

TODAY IS ISAAC’S BIRTHDAY EVERYONE.
I made him a Bulbasaur since Bulbasaur is his favorite Pokemon.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ISAAC. :D

I’ve been crocheting for around four or five years now and I have never made anything with a granny square, so I decided to try my hand at making one by making a small security blanket with an owl.
I gave it to Dirk to give to his cousin’s wife, who is pregnant. Hopefully baby H will like it when she arrives! It’s super soft and I’m happy with how it came out.
It’s crocheted from this pattern, but I made a few alterations to my own liking.

I made a uterus drawstring bag because, well, I wanted to. I also decided that I wanted to make it purple.
I’m a rebel.
Pattern here.

For Christmas, I was broke as all hell (being the college student that I am), but I still wanted to give Isaac something awesome. I decided to punish my fingers and use my crochet skills to make Hobbes from Calvin and Hobbes. It’s the biggest amigurumi I’ve ever made and I think it came out really well. I also finally figured out how to do jogless stripes!
I want to thank SukiGirl for publishing her pattern of Hobbes for free and Bill Watterson for creating the comic that would influence multiple generations of people. <3
